britney spears – radar [dead c remix]

this guy’s got a whole series of experimental tracks laid over britney spears’ songs.  they’re not really remixes.  the idea is more like when you play pink floyd and the wizard of oz at the same time and then wait for weird synchronicities.  i think this one with the new zealand free noise band turned out the best, but check out others here, where john cage and sun ra get in on the action.

Britney Spears – Radar [Dead C Remix] from Dick Whyte on Vimeo.

The first in my ongoing series of Britney Spears remixes, superimposing Spears’ “Radar” over top of The Dead C’s “Suffer Bomb Damage.” The Dead C are a free noise/rock band from New Zealand comprised of Bruce Russell, Robbie Yeats and Michael Morley.

This is not a remix, as such, but a rhizomatic layering (rhimix) of two tracks supercomposed over top of one another in the hope that multiple points of contact might be established between them, which would not have been there previously. The editing on each track is minimal as I am more interested in the chance occurrences which comes from superimposing two separate tracks, than constructing a traditional remix. The ethics of this project is inspired by both John Oswald’s plunderphonics and John Cage’s Music of Chance.
